網友PO文表示，假設一對彼此相愛、論及婚嫁的男女，因為某一方家庭比較傳統，最後選擇申辦路權、搭棚子辦流水席，可以想見過程中免不了會有長輩上台唱KTV、請一些有鄉土味的歌手獻唱，甚至里長、議員也可能跑來致詞，「現在還有多少女生，能夠接受這種辦桌婚禮？」

其他網友也紛紛附和表示，「很討厭吃辦桌，大部分衛生條件都不好」、「辦桌真的有夠low ，偏偏中南部很愛？」、「超級討厭有人占路，無法接受」、「雖然路邊辦桌好吃又便宜，但會被嫌棄低俗不衛生」。
但也有網友十分支持辦桌，直言「辦桌的菜色才好吃啊！傻傻的」、「流水席很有人情味」、「中南部的辦桌菜色，比台北的大飯店好吃太多！」、「死都要辦桌，飯店又貴又難吃，要那種排場何必？」、「辦桌並不等於家裡沒錢！有些長輩就是愛辦桌的熱鬧氣氛」。

對此，專門做台式辦桌的「台菜二世祖阿建」也PO文一一回嗆，強調「去星級大飯店就不會請人上台致詞？我只能說，紅白帖很多政治人物都會跑啦！不要把這個問題去扯到辦桌身上」；至於衛生方面的疑慮，他也表示，大飯店的衛生情形其實不一定比較好。最後他也強調，辦桌一萬元的單，可以有龍蝦、石斑、大草蝦、鮑魚、佛跳牆等海鮮料理，應有盡有，「菜色打趴飯店幾百條街！」
